Game Description: Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification.
Role: Senior Level Designer

Quest: Riders on the Storm
Location:The Wraith Camp

During development on Cyberpunk 2077 I was the primary level designer for the ‘Wraith Camp’ in the mission “Riders on the Storm”. I worked together with Quest Designer Phillip Weber and Artists Charlotte Hughes and Dan Hargreaves.

Our goal here was to create a fortress-like location where the Wraith’s are keeping a prisoner, an ex-Aldecado named Saul.

The location was designed to be infiltrated in any way the player wishes, whether it be stealth or guns blazing. The level design is based on what I like to call ‘onion skin’ design - meaning it was a multilayered approach in how it plays out. First, the player must infiltrate the outer layer, then the main factory area, and then ending in the basement where V saves Saul.

Telling Stories in Night City

Part of our mandate for Cyberpunk 2077 was to bring the city to life by telling small stories using the animations already available. Everywhere in Night City there is a story to be told if you keep your eyes open, you’ll see stores being robbed, hostages being taken and some people just sharing a moment.

For each of these moments they are actually randomized by time of day and animation sets so that the player tends to see different mini-stories playout if they return to the same place at a later time.
